Italian councillors accused of racism for Indian kebab shop ban

London, Jan.28 (ANI): Councillors in the Tuscan town of Lucca have been accused of racism after banning Indian restaurants or kebab shops from opening up.

The edict has been passed by the right-wing Popolo della Liberta party - headed by Silvio Berlusconi, the prime minister - whose councillors want to see more traditional Italian dishes being served, banishing anything else.

Filippo Candelise, a Lucca councillor, was quoted by the Scotsman as saying: "To accuse us of racism is outrageous. All we are doing is protecting he culinary patrimony of the town." (ANI)
