Earthquake of 6.0 magnitude hits Sumatra island

Hong Kong (Xinhua), Jan 28: Indonesia's Sumatra island experienced an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale on Wednesday, Jan 28, the Hong Kong Observatory reported.

The quake occurred at 8.07 am (5.37 am IST). The epicentre of the quake was located 240 km northwest of the Padang region in Indonesia, the observatory said.

There was no immediate report of casualty or damage to property, it said.
