If no ticket, will walk out of BJP: Shatrughan Sinha
New Delhi, Jan 27: Shatrughan Sinha, actor-turned politician said that if he was not given ticket to contest in the coming Lok Sabha polls he will walk out from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 'Shotgun' said that he is the party candidate from BJP for the Bihar's Patna Saheb constituency. But BJP on Tuesday, Jan 27 distanced itself from the actor's contention and said that the nominees will be finalised only by this month-end.
A senior party leader said to the sources that the candidate for Patna Saheb will be discussed by BJP's Bihar state election committee. The Chief Election Commission of India is expected to finalise candidates for the Lok Sabha election by Jan-end.
Shatrughan Sinha served two terms in the Rajya Sabha as a BJP MP from Bihar. He was denied another term as the party does not favour a third consecutive term in the Upper House. Party sources said that there are other leaders who are eyeing the Patna Saheb seat. The front-runner is Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is also party Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson. Party has also given addition responsibility of handling BJP affairs in Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu to Prasad.
There are speculations that Shatrughan Sinha might join Samajwadi Party if he didn't get BJP ticket to contest.
