Michelle Obama miffed with Sasha and Malia's Beanie dolls
Chicago, Jan 24 (ANI): It seems that US First Lady Michelle Obama is not too happy with her daughters' Sasha and Malia's Beanie dolls.
Michelle has accused the company Ty, Inc. for exploiting her daughters.
"We believe it is inappropriate to use young, private citizens for marketing purposes,'' the Chicago-Sun Times quoted Katie McCormick Lelyveld, the first lady's press spokeswomen as saying in an e-mail.
The company that makes Beanie Babies, is marketing plush dolls named "Sweet Sasha" and "Marvelous Malia."
An unnamed company official was quoted as saying that "we certainly hope that [the Obama girls] like them."
However, Tania Lundeen, the company spokeswoman had claimed that the names were chosen because they sound beautiful and not because they are the names of the children of the first family.
"There's nothing on the dolls that refers to the Obama girls," she said.
"It would not be fair to say they are exact replications of these girls. They are not," she added.
The dolls sell for 10 dollars and the company said retailers received a limited supply earlier this month. (ANI)
