Pak doesn't need to prove its sincerity on war on terror: General Majid
Islamabad, Jan 21 (ANI): The Pakistan Army has asked world leaders to stop demanding that it do more to prove its sincerity on the war on terror.
Pakistan, a close ally of the US since the 9/11 attacks, has not been able to dispel the suspicion that it continues to maintain links with terror outfits.
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Tariq Majid, on Tuesday called on world powers to stop demanding that Islamabad to do more.
Commenting on Pakistan's efforts in eradicating of terrorism and repetitive rhetoric by some of the external players, General Majid said such international players must abandon their coercive mindset and deliver on promised capacity assistance to help Pakistan in dealing with the problem.
Pakistan does not need to prove its sincerity to anyone, considering the huge sacrifices it has made and is continuing to make, which cannot be matched by any of those players making these demands, General Majid said.
Such unhelpful statements must stop, The Nation quoted General Majid, as saying.
His blunt call came during US CENTCOM chief Geneneral David Petraeus visit to Islamabad.
General Majid, however, did not refer to any country or to General Petraeus. (ANI)
