Barack Obama 'won't makeover' Oval Office
New York, Jan 20 (ANI): "Change" was Barack Obama's Presidential campaign's theme, but that is one thing he doesn't want to see as far as the interiors of Oval Office are concerned.
The incoming President doesn't want to change much to the most famous room in America, and wants to take it over almost in the same condition as was left by his predecessor George W. Bush.
Usually, a team of curators and decorators rushes into the Oval Office the instant the oath of office is over to begin a full makeover.
However, this time it won't be so-other than some Texas-centric paintings, a Winston Churchill bust and family photographs, the furnishings and artwork in the office would remain as favoured by President Bush.
Obama has reportedly told friends that he loves the taupe oval carpet designed by Laura Bush in a "sunbeam" pattern.
And the Democrat also wants to keep the historic Resolute desk, crafted from the oak timbers of the British warship Resolute and made famous by the picture of President John F. Kennedy's son, John-John, peering out of the kneehole.
A painting and bust of Abraham Lincoln, Obama's favorite predecessor, will also retain their places of honour.
Other familiar items for the keeps include the Rembrandt Peale portrait of Gen. George Washington over the office's fireplace, and "The Bronco Buster," the stirring Frederic Remington bronze sculpture.
The only big addition to the office would be photos of Obama's family, which will be displayed on the table behind the Resolute desk when he walks in, revealed officials.
When asked why Obama is keeping the new digs essentially intact, a top aide quipped: "It seems that President Bush has a flair for decorating," reports The New York Daily News. (ANI)
