LTTE chief Prabhakaran not in Lanka?
Colombo, Jan 18: The Sri Lankan army have almost cornered the LTTE or Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam completely in the northern jungle base. However reports suggest that the LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran may have escaped by sea.
Sarath Fonseka, the Lankan Army chief said that he was not sure if Prabhakaran was in Sri Lanka. He also said that it is not possible for Prabhakaran to enter India either. The mystery over LTTE chief continues.
Army chief who had a narrow escape in an assassination bid in April 2006 said that he want to crush the LTTE before his term ended in Dec 2009. Reports claim that the Army killed over 30 rebels on Saturday, Jan 17 alone.
Meanwhile the Tigers claim to have killed 51 soldiers near the Dharmapuram in northern Sri Lanka. But army denied this claim.
