Thieves hacking eBay accounts to buy items
London, Jan 09 (ANI): Thieves are hacking eBay accounts and using other people's credit card details to buy items online, it has emerged.
What's more, the crooks go and collect the illegally bought goods in person, thus the seller cannot be covered by the PayPal fraud guarantee.
They then discover they are out of pocket when the cash is returned to the hijacked account.
PayPal say the seller would be covered if they had posted the item and obtained proof it had been sent.
One such victim is Stephanie Beattie, 28, of South London, who was duped of 630 pounds.
"We strongly recommend high value items are not collected in person," the Sun quoted a spokesman for eBay, as saying.
A PayPal spokesman said: "Any item hand-delivered will not qualify for protection." (ANI)
