Chennai gets terror threat for NRI meet

Chennai, Jan 8: Tight security has been ensured in Chennai for the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas meet following a terror threat from terror outfits, Deccan Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) to attacks the meet. The meet will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Massive security has been arranged for the event as two thirds of the Union Cabinet , including the PM and President, Pratibha Patil.

First threat was from the terror group, Deccan Mujahideen and then a letter from the LeT alleging that their men are ready to strike at this NRI meet.

According to the police, there are around 850 policemen guarding the venue, with an additional 3500 police officers deputed to monitor the movement of VIPs. Even the RAF and SAG forces have been put on duty.
