LPG, Petrol tankers join all India truckers strike

New Delhi, Jan 6: The all India truckers strike entered second day on Tuesday, Jan 6. Reports suggest that the LPG and Petrol tankers have also joined strike. However the transporters said that the strike will not effect the movement of essential commodities.

The truckers launched nationwide strike after their meeting with the government failed for the third time on Sunday, Jan 4. The truckers have demanded cut in Diesel prices as Rs 10 per litre, removal of service tax, and free movement all over India without permit.

Meanwhile the government agreed to reduce service tax in some sectors like cargo and handling.

The All India Motor Transport Congress President, Charan Vohra said that they have launched the strike from midnight. Also they will continue the strike untill the demands are met.
