Fog in Delhi disrupts flights again
New Delhi, Jan 3: Dense fog in New Delhi clogged 65 flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Saturday, Jan 3. Nearly 20 flights were delayed and 15 others were cancelled.
The general visibility range dropped below 50 metres and the runway visibility range dipped around 100 metres leading to cancellation of most of the early morning flights for Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Kochi.
"This is much below the required minima of 150 metres for the aircrafts to take off in a poor visibility condition," airport sources said.
Barring a few International flights, no plane landed or took off since early morning. The fog began enveloping the airport area from 10 pm on Monday, Jan 2 night.
