Fire in Bangkok's Santika pub kills 54

Bangkok, Jan 1: Atleast 54 people people were killed and 15 other injured when a fire broke out in a pub on Thursday, Jan 1, New Year morning. Police sources said that the injured are in serious condition.

Sutin Pongkhamphan, Deputy Chief, Thonglor district police said that many of the victims died while trying to get out of the main exit of the Santika Pub. The cause of fire is yet to be detemined. Fire broke out around 12.20 am. Police said that casualities may rise as they had not yet been able to check the washrooms of the pub, which was totally gutted.
