FATA senator resigns over Pak security operations
Islamabad, Jan 1 (ANI): FATA Senator Nasir Khan has resigned from the assembly after his house was demolished in Shahkas during a security operation against militants in the Jamrud sub division to secure the main supply route for NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Khan was quoted by The News, as saying, "Being a senator, I have taken an oath to be loyal to the nation and the country, but the security forces demolished my house without any reason."
The security operation helped to the arrest of 122 suspects so far including 116 foreigners.
The security operation targeted hideouts of both militants and criminals. Gunship helicopters, tanks and artillery were used.
The Peshawar-Jalalabad Highway remained closed during the operation. (ANI)
