Rs 2.6 crore missing from BJP office
New Delhi, Dec 30: Everybody likes money! The feelings are hard if one looses money. Now BJP party is in such a situation that it can even announce its loss of money. BJP's RS 2.6 crore money is missing from party's central office in Ashoka Road.
The chief accountant said " the amount was taken, clean as a whistle, from a 'tijori' (safe) in a small room to the back of the party headquarters, not far from BJP president Rajnath Singh's office". The theft came to light on Friday Dec 26, when the office re-opened after Christmas holiday, causing consternation in BJP circles.
The money was deposited on Dec 24 and apparently stolen on Dec 25, when the office was closed. The incident was shocking as the are the office is located in the residential of party office bearers. Many staffers also live in the office building. It is seems an insider might have done the theft. BJP had pooled the money for the elections and was not accounted for. Hence, the intervention for police was not making any sense.
Nalin Tandon, chief accountant of BJP was the first to know about the theft. At last party decided to give the case to a private detective. However, the party is tongue tied to speak about the missing money.
