Nepali Congress again boycotts Constituent Assembly session
Kathmandu, Dec 25 (ANI): Nepali Congress (NC) has boycotted the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting held in the capacity of legislative assembly for the third consecutive time.
Chief whip of NC parliamentary party Laxman Prasad Ghimire announced a boycott of the legislative session of the Constituent Assembly saying immediately after it convened.
He said that the party would continue to boycott the parliamentary proceedings until Prime Minister Prachanda doesn't fulfill the commitments he made in the past.
He said the Prime Minister Prachanda has repeatedly turned a deaf ear to calls for fulfilling the nine-point demand forwarded by the party.
He further claimed that the Maoists have still not returned the seized property to its rightful owners and haven't also abided by the past agreements and understandings.
He also criticized the government for not doing enough to safeguard the media sector, as the Himalmedia incident has shown in which the Maoist affiliated All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers'' Union had attacked the staff of the Himalmedia, inflicting injuries to the journalists and vandalising the office, Kantipur reported.
