Pak Senators demand joint probe in Mumbai terror attcks
Islamabad, Dec 24 (ANI): Pakistani Senators have condemned India's unsubstantiated allegations against Islamabad over the Mumbai terror attacks, and called for the neighbours to conduct a joint probe.
The National Assembly members also called for an end to 'war hype' whipped up between the nuclear-armed South Asian countries following last month's attacks, which New Delhi has blamed on a banned militant group, Lashkar-i-Taiba.
"The National Assembly condemns unsubstantiated allegations levelled in haste against Pakistan,' the lawmakers said in a resolution approved unanimously after a weeklong general debate on national security," Dawn quoted the resolution, as saying.
The resolution called upon India to respond to the constructive proposals made by the government of Pakistan, namely joint investigations and high-level engagement with a view to addressing concerns relating to the Mumbai incident.
Lawmakers said that Pakistan had put forth these proposals "to defuse tensions in South Asia" and expressed their condolences to families of the victims. A total of 172 people were killed, including nine of the attackers.
The National Assembly also asked world community to press India for the closure of terror cells and to stop anti-Pakistan propaganda.
The resolution, presented by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Ammad, stated that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region and end of tension with India.
The resolution has urged global community to press India to close terror hubs and stop anti-Pakistan propaganda. (ANI)
