I need a Pakistani lawyer: Kasav
Islamabad, Dec 24: Azam Amir Kasav, the only terrorist caught alive in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks on Wednesday, Dec 24 requested to a Mumbai court that a Pakistani lawyer represent him in Indian court. Meanwhile the court extended Kasav's police custody till Jan 6.
Earlier Kasav had sought legal assistance from Pakistan and had written a letter to government of Pakistan regarding this. Pak admitted that it received the letter on Dec 22, but refused to admit that Kasav is a Pakistani national.
The Observe, an English daily and some Pakistani newspapers have reported that Kasav belong to Faridkot district of Pakistan. Amir Kasav, the father of Iman aka Kasav have acknowledged to newspapers that the person arrested in connection with Mumbai terror attack is his son.
Since Nov 27 Kasav is in the custody of Mumbai Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and has been kept at an undisclosed location. He is booked under sections like murder, attempt to murder, waging war against the nation, conspiracy and sections of the arms act & explosives act.
