Pak Government will not withdraw disqualification plea against Sharif

Lahore, Dec.19 (ANI): The federal government in Pakistan is in no mood of withdrawing its appeal against the disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif in the Supreme Court.

"The federal government does not intend to withdraw its appeal in the Supreme Court against the disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif," Attorney General of Pakistan (AG) Latif Khosa said.

Khosa, however, refused to say anything on the controversy about additional marks being awarded to the daughter of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar.

"I can not comment on the subject because I have to appear in the same case before the Supreme Court," the Daily Times quoted Khosa as saying.

He also said that the National Assembly has not got the legitimate powers to summon a judge.

"A judge could not be summoned by the National Assembly (NA)," he said, adding "The NA's Standing Committee on Education has called Justice Dogar in his capacity as a student's father."(ANI)
