Texting may be best barometer of intensity of illness
London, Dec 18 (ANI): A young person's ability to send a text message could be a good indication of how ill they are, doctors at some of the UK's busiest music festivals have said.
Medical teams treating those who felt ill at music festivals found that once patients were able to use their mobile phones to text their friends, they were usually well enough to leave the first aid tent.
The test could work in busy A and E units, the researchers told the British Medical Journal.
Dr Mike Sinclair, a retired consultant anaesthetist who works for the charity, said that once a festival-goer who had felt ill or fainted was better, they generally texted their friends to arrange where to meet them, reports BBC.
The expert and his colleagues had noticed this indicator of recovery at festivals over the last few years.
The co-ordination necessary to send a text was a sign their brain was working at a reasonable level, he said. (ANI)
