Congress leads in Rajinder Nagar too
New Delhi, Dec 15: Ramakant Goswami of Congress emerged as the winner in the Rajinder Nagar assembly by-election, on Monday, Dec 15 defeating the late legislator Puran Chand Yogi's widow of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
After Yogi who represented Rajinder Nagar in the Delhi assembly from BJP committed suicide ahead of polls, the constituency had been postponed to Dec 13.
According to figures with the chief electoral office, Goswami got 29,394 votes and Asha Yogi managed 23,988. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Trilok Chand Sharma got 15,871 votes.
The Congress now has 43 seats in the 70-member assembly while the BJP has 23.
