Kasav's case: Sena activists attack lawyer's house
New Delhi, Dec 15: Noted criminal lawyer, Ashok Sarogi is facing the wrath of expressing his willingness to take up the case of Azam Amir Kasav, lone terrorist captured alive in the Nov 26 Mumbai terror attacks. Around 200 Shiv Sena activists raged at Sarogi, held demonstrations outside his house in Malad, Mumbai and pelted stones.
The lawyer was forced to give a written statement that he will not represent Kasav. The Mumbai police have now offered protection to Sarogi, who later clarified his stand.
"There was some confusion. I had given a statement that if the legal procedure can't be completed without a lawyer, any lawyer, including I can fulfill it so that he can be punished," he said.
Sarogi had represented Abu Salem earlier.
Former Additional advocate General P Janardhan has also said he's willing to represent Kasav, if the Pakistan embassy approaches him.
Janardhan's offer comes even as the Esplanade court bar association has passed a resolution that none of them will defend Kasav.
