MK Nepal says Youth Force may become a problem for the party

Kathmandu, Dec12 (ANI): Former UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today expressed fears of the possibility of his party's youth wing- Youth Force (YF) of becoming a matter of problem for the party in the future.

Speaking at a press meet here, he said Youth Force (YF) may become a problem for the party, much like Young Communist League (YCL) has been for the Maoist leadership at present.

Madhav Kumar Nepal made this remark while expressing sadness over the incident in Dadeldhura where local journalists were manhandled and threatened by Youth Force cadres under the direct orders of local UML leaders.

He said that the Youth Force was originally formed to keep the YCL in check, and is not a paramilitary unit like YCL, which stays in barracks, takes military trainings and engages in vigilante activities.

He also revealed that he had on several occasions requested Prime Minister Prachanda to disband YCL.

"If the ruling party itself keeps a paramilitary force then there is no reason why other parties won't also try to form their own," he said, adding "and if everybody starts to form their own paramilitary forces then the atmosphere in the country will be very dark. The Prime Minister should seriously think about this thing," Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
