Nepal Constituent Assembly urges parties to form committees
Kathmandu, Dec 8 (ANI): The Constituent Assembly Secretariat (CAS) of Nepal has asked the parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA) to constitute committees soon according to the CA regulations.
The CAS here on Sunday formally told the parties that no step has been taken to form the committees even after a month of publicising the 82-week long schedule for the new constitution-drafting and thus affecting the constitution making process.
The meeting of the work management advisory committee chaired by Constituent Assembly chairman Subas Nemwang has asked the parties to nominate the members for 14 different committees by Thursday as per the working calendar on constitution writing.
The meeting also decided that the special committees should have 16 members from Maoists, nine each from the Nepali Congress and the UML, four from the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and two from the Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party.
Nemwang has asked the government to provide additional work force and physical infrastructure to smoothen the process of writing constitution.
According to the working calendar, the chairmen of these committees will have to be chosen on December 14 and 15, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
