Nintendo reprograms game whose character called players 'Nigga'
London, Dec 7 (ANI): Video game company Nintendo has had to reprogram a computer game it produced after it was discovered that one of its characters called the players "Nigga".
The game, Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City, had been designed for children as young as three.
It had to be reprogrammed after the reviewers spotted the racist remark.
The offensive word came up when players encountered Baabara the Sheep, who repeatedly used the word as a nickname in idle conversation.
In a statement, a spokesman for the Japanese giant issued an apology.
"We regret that an offensive phrase was included without our knowledge," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
"This version was limited to copies created for review purposes only and is not available at retailers.
"We sincerely apologise for the incident and are working with media who received the games to return them to Nintendo immediately," he added. (ANI)
