Mumbai, Dec 5: Taking cues from the global markets, Indian stocks opened lower on Friday, Dec 5. National Stock Exchange's benchmark index Nifty fell 19.55 points to 2769. 45. Meanwhile Sensex, the Bombay Stock Exchange's 30 share index skid 90.21 points to 9139.54 from Thursday, Dec 4's close.
US economy fell sharply after decline in oil prices. US crude oil futures ended below $44 on Thursday, Dec 4 to hit their lowest level in nearly four years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 215.45 points, or 2.51 per cent, at 8,376.24 and the Nasdaq Composite Index sank 46.82 points, or 3.14 per cent, at 1,445.56.
But
the
Asian
stocks,
on
the
other
hand
climbed
up.
The
Nikkei
rose
0.5
per
cent,
Topix
was
up
0.38
per
cent,
Hang
Seng
gained
2.28
per
cent
and
Straits
Times
was
up
1.32
per
cent.
