Just in: Reports suggest that one of the head constables who was part of the search team was shot in the stomach and is hospitalised. Santosh Nagar is a slum area and is hugely populated. The eye witnesses of the firing claimed that these people who fired the policemen were living in the area for quite sometime. Sources say that terrorists were carrying arms and they opened fire from a near-by telephone booth. Police are on a search out for the three escapees.
Hyderabad, Dec 3: Suspected terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on Wednesday, Dec 3 on Police men at Santosh Nagar in Hyderabad of Andhra Pradesh. Police personnel were carrying out routine checks on people when the terrorists opened fire. The three suspected militants reportedly belong to Students Islamic Movement of India aka SIMI.
Initial reports say that these were the same people who carried out twin blasts in Macca Masjid of Hyderabad. Two Police personnel were injured in the incident. But police couldn't nab the terrorists.
High alert has been declared in Hyderabad.
