India to provide assistance to trace Malaysian link in Mumbai attacks
Kuala Lumpur, Dec 3 : The Indian Government will provide assistance to the Malaysian police to trace the Malaysian link in last week's Mumbai attacks. "Both Malaysia and India enjoy strong bilateral ties and for that goodwill, we will assist the Malaysian police in required sectors of the matter. However, we need to wait for the outcome and let the authorities in India conduct their probe into the allegations," said Ashok K. Kantha, India High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Kantha said this after he visiting the family of Hemalatha Kasippilai to offer his condolences over her death in the Mumbai attacks.
Hemalatha, 51, a customer relations manager with a German reinsurance firm, was among 172 people killed during the Mumbai mayhem.
Criticizing the Indian authorities for their carelessness for the attacks, Hemalatha's husband K. Sivakumaran, said, "I am sure they don't want to see another massacre in their country. They (Indian authorities) should be fully responsible for all the trouble."
Sivakumaran, a general manager at a security firm, also accused the Indian authorities of having left him in the lurch when he arrived in Mumbai to search for his wife, NST Online reports.
"None of the Indian personnel assisted me. Luckily, the Malaysian consulate office in Mumbai, with the help of the Indian High Commission in Malaysia, guided me. I went up and down the city to search for my wife."
