Tom Cruise denies 'influencing anti-Scientology book ban' rumours

London, December 2 : Tom Cruise has denied allegations that he had forced Amazon to drop an anti-Scientology book from its shelves.

The Hollywood heartthrob, a devout believer of Scientology, had been speculated to have paid a visit to Amazon's Seattle headquarters before the UK website of the online retailer withdrew the book from its catalogue.

Amazon, which had stopped the book's sale five days after it had been published, had claimed that someone referred to in the book had alleged of defamation accusations.

"U.K. law gives us no choice but to remove the title from our catalogue," the Sun quoted Amazon as saying in a statement.

The actor-producer, who had visited the headquarters to host a sneak preview for his latest flick 'Valkyrie', had been rumoured to be the man at the centre of the claims.

While Cruise's spokesman denied the charge author John Duignan said: "I believe Tom Cruise influenced them."
