{image-yousuf raja gilani_01122008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Islamabad, Dec 1: In an attempt to evolve a national consensus over the crisis that has emerged after the terror strikes on Mumbai, Pakistan Prime Minister Gilani has called a Multi-Party Conference (MPC) on national security on Tuesday, Dec 2. The heads of all political parties have been invited to the conference to help evolve a consensus on how Pakistan should act in the prevailing situation and what steps should be taken if it gets worse.
The political and diplomatic activities revolving around the Mumbai carnage and its possible fallout acquired feverish pace on Sunday, Dawn reported. President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani went all out to try and defuse the tensions that many believe have once again brought South Asia to the verge of an ugly conflict.
President Zardari spent time contacting a host of world leaders to present Pakistan's case. He urged them to make India realise the futility of a blame-game before even starting formal investigations.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has so far not observed any military build up by India on the western border.
Director General Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR), Major-General Athar Abbas, said: "We are closely monitoring the Indian military movements at the international border and no unusual activity has been witnessed so far." e advised the nation not to worry over India's reported threats, and asked the media to report responsibly. bbas said the Pakistan Army has observed normal military activity on the western border; dispelling rumours of a troop build up.
