Sensex closes at 8,839; Nifty at 2,682

Just In: The Sensex shed nearly 487 points from the day's high of 9,326.68 and ended at 8,839.87 down 252.85 points or 2.78 per cent from the previous close. The 50-share NSE Nifty tumbled 72.20 points or 2.62 per cent to settle at 2,682.90. It lost 150 points from the day's high of 2832.85.

Just In: The Sensex fell 114 points to 8,978 and the Nifty lost 34 points to 2,720, at 2:30 hours IST. BSE Midcap and Small Cap indices are flat.

Just In: The Sensex rose 215 points to 9,307 and the Nifty gained 70 points to 2,825, at 10:50 hours IST. BSE Midcap and Small Cap indices went up over 1 per cent each.

Mumbai, Dec 1: On Monday, Dec 1, the markets moved up higher in early trade post the Mumbai terror attacks of last week. At 9:56 am, the Sensex rose 127 points to 9,220 and the Nifty went up 41 points to 2,796. CNX Midcap 100 gained 9.3 points at 3,318.

Unitech, L&T, GAIL, ICICI Bank, Satyam, ONGC, Nalco, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Power, Zee Entertainment, BPCL, Cairn India, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, BHEL, Reliance Communication and ABB are gainers.
