Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil resigns
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has resigned hours before an all party meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the Mumbai terror attacks.
According to highly placed sources, the Home Minister resigned owning moral responsibility of the terror attacks on the financial capital of the country.
However, no official confirmation was available from the Prime Minister's Office.
The BJP along with other opposition parties had been criticising the Home Minister for the terrorist attacks in the country, demanding his resignation.
The all party meeting will be held at the Prime Minister's official residence at 1800 hrs this evening.
It is believed that the meeting of the Congress Working Committee discussed the Mumbai tragedy and several members demanded a change in the Home Ministry.
