Teacher sentenced for raping student

Phagwara, Nov 30 (UNI) A School Teacher has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court on the charges of raping an Eight standard student, who later died The girl was taken to a nearby highway dhabha in July 2006, by the accused teacher Harbhajan Singh, where he allegedly raped her.

The girl fell unconcious after the incident, while the accused managed to flee.

Medical examination of the victim meanwhile, confirmed the rape.

The court, in a recent order, found Harbhajan guilty and sent him behind the bars for life.
