Sonia hits back on BJP on terrorism issue
Barmer, Rajasthan, Nov 30 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today lashed out at the BJP for politicising the issue of terrorism even as she asserted that the UPA government would take concrete steps to tackle the menace.
Addressing election rallies at Barmer and Baran, she said, ''when the nation was struggling with the terror strike in Mumbai, the BJP was involved in doing politics on the issue of terrorism.'' Ms Gandhi said the BJP, which was now harping on the issue of terrorism, had humiliated the nation during the NDA regime by taking arrested terrorists to Afghanistan and releasing them.
''The terrorist attack on the Parliament House also took place during the NDA regime,'' she claimed.
Terrorism, she said, had no religion and the entire nation would have to fight together against the menace.
Terrorism would not be tolerated at any cost and the UPA government would take concrete steps to tackle it,'' said the UPA chairperson.
She also paid tributes to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives to save the innocent people and condoled the death of others who became the victims in the terror strike in Mumbai.
