Plea to CM on compensation for crop loss
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Unit of the Bharathiya Kisan Sabha today appealed to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to sanction Rs 40,000 per acre for plantain crop and Rs 10,000 per acre for paddy crop as compensation for farmers who suffered crop loss in the recent rainfall.
In a statement here, Sabha State General Secretary Ayyakannu said farmers who lost plantain and paddy crops due to torrential rainfall were suffering as they had already spent Rs 40,000 per acre of plantain and Rs 10,000 per acre of paddy.
The compensation of Rs 1,000 announced by the government for plantain was meagre, he alleged.
