One post, one car directive issued in Punjab
Patiala, Nov 30 (UNI) Punjab Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh said today directions have been issued to all principal secretaries and head of the departments for divesting cars from the officers, who have been holding charge for more than one departments.
Talking to media persons after inaugurating 'Saras Fair' here, he said guidelines of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal were followed in this regard. The Chief Minister had said on Friday in view of the global economic slowdown, the state government would also try to cut down on the expenditure.
Mr Singh said recruitment in various departments has been started and there will be no shortage of employees in every department in next financial year.
When asked about the heritage festival of Patiala, he said it would be resumed in February 2009.
Saras Fair, being held at the historic Sheesh Mahal of Patiala from today till December 11, is being held under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
It provides a great marketing opportunity for the products of the rural artisans and craftsmen while the visitors get a unique opportunity to see, enjoy and acquire craft, handloom and other exotic products which are being brought here from virtually the entire length and breadth of the country.
