NC candidate's guard fire in air in Lolab assembly segment in J

Srinagar, Nov 30 (UNI) A guard of a National Conference (NC) candidate Qiesar Jamsheed Lone fired in air after supporters of an opposition candidate clashed with his supporters at a polling station at Inderbugh in Lolab Assembly constituency.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Masood Samoon briefing reporters this evening about the overall polling in five Assembly segments, spread over the Kupwara district, said some supporters of an opposition candidate raised slogans when the NC candidate Mr Lone, seeking re-election was coming out from a polling station at Inderbugh.

However, Mr Lone's supporter raised counter-slogans which resulted in physical clash.

A guard of Mr Qiesar fired several rounds in the air to disperse the demonstrators.

When asked if there was any incident of rifle snatching from a security force jawan at a polling booth at Kupwara, Mr Samoon said no such report was received so far.

He also denied the reports about bogus voting in a polling station at Tanghdar in Karnah Assembly segment.
