Cong opposes VCK in all party-delegation to PM

Madurai, Nov 30 (UNI) Taking a tough stand, the Congress today strongly opposed the participation of Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi (VCK), a constituent of the ruling DPA, in the all-party delegation to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue next month.

In an informal chat with newsmen here, Senior Congress Leader and Union Minister E V K S Elangovan said, ''It is good if the VCK does not take part in the all-party delegation headed by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to meet Dr Singh in New Delhi on December 4.'' ''Otherwise, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) will have some reconsideration to participate in the delegation,'' he added.

He said the Congress wanted a peaceful solution for the Lankan Tamils issue.

VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan was known for his pro-LTTE stance and hence, the Congress' opposition to the party accompanying the all-party delegation.
