Central Excise dept soon to go paperless
Thane, Nov 30: The Central Excise department is all set to work online with a pilot project being implemented in the Belapur Commissionerate soon.
Addressing newspersons, Commissioner of Central Excise Neelam Negi said here that all the activities, including auditing, will be done online.
Ms Negi was here to review the revenue position of the commissionerate.
She said the department and the ministry wanted the information on revenue and the assesses to be available online adding that the project would be extended to the other commissionerates in phased manner.
''All the activities of the assesses and the department would be computerised,'' she informed.
Ms Negi also said the assesses should take most of the use of the to the new facilities for the department's development.
''The assesses can make their applications, file their returns, registrations and other documents online, even the appeals. The documents can be scanned and sent to the department,'' she informed.
The department would hence forth pass the orders online and the reviewed applications would be delt the same way.
She informed them that the validation of the software would be taken up soon and that the employees should provide accurate details to the department for an easy maintenance of data base.
''A massive work of linking all offices of Central Excise in the country was on,'' she said adding that in coming years all the activities would be online for an easy and paperless governance.
