AIADMK urges admn to assess rain damages immediately
Puducherry, Nov 30 (UNI) AIADMK Puducherry unit Secretary A Anmbazhagan, MLA, today urged the administration to take immediate steps to assess the rain damages and seek relief from the Centre.
Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the government had simply announced Rs 100 crore as the total lost, without assessing the damages properly.
Alleging that the administration has failed to allocate any funds under the natural calamity scheme, he said Welfare Minister M Kandasamy had obtaiend Rs 258 crores, which was allocated under the Special Component Plan scheme for Dalits.
He squarely blamed members of Parliament from Puducherry V Narayansami and Prof M Ramadass for the present sufferings of the fishermen and said the previous government headed by N Rangasamy had sanctioned Rs 2.30 lakh each for the tsunami hit fishermen to construct their own houses.
