Three BSF jawans killed, one injured in Tripura
Agartala, Nov 29 (UNI) Three jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) were killed and another sustained serious injury in an ambush at remote Garjanpasa area under Dhalai district along Tripura-Bangladesh border, about 200 km from here, today.
BSF Spokesperson A K Singh said that unidentified extremists opened indiscriminate firing on BSF patrolling party at operational area of air-maintained post, leading to the incident.
Mr Singh said the injured person had been shifted to Agartala Government Medical College, while security forces launched a massive manhunt against the criminals, but none was arrested so far.
Meanwhile, a red alert has been sounded across Tripura and security has been beefed up by the BSF along Indo-Bangladesh border, following the terror attacks in Mumbai.
Mr Singh furthur pointed out that the strength of border guards have been increased and patrolling has been intensified.
Steps have also been taken to ensure better coordination between border security outposts along the area.
