Tikamgarh, MP, Nov 29 (UNI) The tahsil town of Jatara in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh observed 'bandh' for the second day today to protest the murder of former Madhya Pradesh minister and BJP candidate from Prithvipur Sunil Nayak at the close of polls on Thursday.

Tension pervailed in Tikamgarh, Orchha and Jatara while no relaxation was given so far in the curfew clamped in Prithvipur on November 27.

A meeting of the peace committee was held in Jatara while a delegation of the citizens submitted a memorandum to the Sub Divisional Magistrate demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the fatal attack on Mr Nayak.

At Gandhi Square in Tikamgarh town, the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha organised a dharna in which former chief minister and Bharatiya Jan Shakti chief Uma Bharti also participated.

They demanded an enquiry into the incident and arrest of all culprits, police said.

Mr Nayak was shot following an altercation with his Congress rival Brajendra Singh Rathore's brother Yashpal Singh over booth capturing and he died on way to Jhansi hospital.

Yashpal was immediately arrested while police registered case of murder against Mr Rathore, a Congress MLA, and 11 members of his family.

Both Ms Bharti and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the funeral of Mr Nayak at his hometown Jatara yesterday. Mr Nayak was the sitting legislator from Jatara.
