Hubli, Nov 29 (UNI) The police have kept a strict vigil in this North Karnataka city known as 'Chota Mumbai' following the terror attack in Mumbai.

Hubli has witnessed arrests of more than a dozen SIMI activists and suspected LeT operatives in the city as well as other parts in the region like Belgaum and Davangere.

In all 16 suspected activists of SIMI, hailing from the state and Andhra Pradesh are in Belgaum, Bellary and Indore jails. They are facing trial in Hubli District and Sessions court since several months.

People are aghast over the terror attack on the financial capital. Hubli has a close association with Mumbai on the business front. Daily hundreds of business people visit Mumbai making a overnight journey to make their purchases and the city. Besides a good road and train facility, the city also has daily flights to Mumbai.

Meanwhile Lok Sabha member Prahlad Joshi, representing Dharwad North, condemned the incident of terrorists killing innocent people in Mumbai.

The BJP alleged that the UPA Government had failed to safeguard the security of the people in its bid to appease the 'vote bank'.

"These misplaced notions will lad to the serious problems like the one we are facing in Mumbai. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should shun 'menial' politics and take stringent action to prevent any such attack on the integrity of the nation," he said.

He also demanded the Prime Minister to sack Union Home minister Shivraj Patil if Mr. Patil himself did not step down owing moral responsibility to his 'failures'.
