Somali pirates capture ship with 25 Indians on board

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Somali pirates struck again today and hijacked a tanker with 25 Indians on board, sources said here.

The Liberian-flagged tanker M/V BISCAGLIA, carrying chemicals, was being operated from Singapore.

The tanker which was hijacked, also has two Bangladeshi nationals onboard, the sources added.

No more details were available.

The tanker was hijacked even when the Indian Navy is patrolling the Gulf of Aden alng with the Navies of many other countries to check piracy. This is the 41st ship that was hijacked this year.

Indian Naval Ship 'Tabar; which is patrolling the Gulf of Aden, on November 18, destroyed a ship seized by pirates which, Thailand later claimed as one of its trawlers. However, India defended INS Tabar action saying pirates fired on the Indian ship from the vessel and INS Tabar retaliated.
