NSG commandos in all major cities: President

Bali, Indonesia, Nov 29: A proposal is underway to station National Security Guards (NSG) in important and sensitive cities, including Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, reports reaching President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, now on a tour of Indonesia, said on Saturday, Nov 29.

Sources said the proposal would be high on the agenda of the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, to be held on Tuesday. The government, sources said, had been considering the proposal for quite some time that the NSG which had been specially trained to tackle critical situations, would be able to reach the scene in the shortest possible time if its units were stationed in sensitive cities and towns. The NSG have been presently functioning only from Delhi.
