Western agencies say they had no warning about Mumbai terror strikes
London, Nov.28 : Western intelligence agencies have said that they were surprised that terrorists had singled out Asia and not the United States as a viable place to attack, even as there was talk of the al-Qaida plotting to disrupt the US presidential campaign.
Whitehall officials, who asked not to be identified, were quoted by The Guardian as saying that they did not know who was behind the attacks.
Their statements reflected the apparent lack of any forewarning.
