Sugar prices up
Navi Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) Sugar prices rose today following sustained demand from stockists, after yesterday's closure due to terror attacks on the metropolis on November 26 night, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.
Small and medium grade sugar soared by Rs five and Rs nine per quintal respectively on lesser stock supply by stockists, traders said.
Similarly, in ex-mill grade, small and medium grade sugar advanced by Rs ten and Rs five per quintal respectively on good demand by bulk consumers, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,818/1,851, medium grade: Rs 1,844/1,925 Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,790/1,810 and medium grade: Rs 1,820/1,880.
