SR announces extension of services to clear rush

Chennai, Nov 28 (UNI) The Southern Railway today announced the extension of the services of the following weekly winter special trains in order to clear the extra rush of passengers.

The Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli weekly winter special leaving Chennai Egmore at 2345 hrs and arriving Tirunelveli at 1230 hrs, the next day, would continue to run up to December 28.

In the return direction, Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore weekly winter special leaving Tirunelveli at 1500 hrs and arriving Chennai Egmore at 0415 hrs, the next day would continue to run up to December 29.

The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore specials weekly winter special leaving Chennai Egmore at 2025 hrs and arriving Nagercoil at 1100 hrs, the next day would continue to run up to December 31.

In the return direction, Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore weekly winter special leaving Nagercoil at 1330 hrs and arriving Chennai Egmore at 0415 hrs, the next day would continue to run up to January 1, 2009.

Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil specials weekly winter special leaving Chennai Egmore at 2345 hrs and arriving Nagercoil at 1430 hrs, the next day would continue to run up to December 26.

In the return direction, Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore weekly winter special leaving Nagercoil at 1940 hrs and arriving Chennai Egmore at 1015 hrs, the next day would continue to run up to December 27.

Advance reservation for the above trains would commence tomorrow, the release said.

In view of opening of shutters of the Kalinga Dam in Andhra Pradesh and raising water levels at some bridges between Tada and Sulurpet, train services from Chennai via Sulurpet and Gudur were likely to have delayed departure or cancellation.

Travelling public were requested to note, the release cautioned.
