Rupee resumes low at 49.62 per US dollar
Mumbai, Nov 28: The rupee on Friday, Nov 28 opened low at 49.62 against US dollar, with a small loss of 12 paise, on fresh demand for dollar by foreign banks, after the market remained closed on Thursday, Nov 27 in wake of the terror attacks on the metropolis.
The domestic unit, which rose by 45 paise to close at 49.50 on Wednesday, depreciated further by 22 paise at 49.72 against the greenback within minutes of trade, in view of the crisis here. The partially convertible rupee fluctuated in a narrow range between at 49.60 and 49.95 in intra-day trade, dealers said. Heavy demand for the US currency from importers also led to rupee's depreciation. Currency trading has also commenced on MCX-SX, sources said.
