Priyanka Chopra's grandfather booked in attack case
Jamshedpur, Nov 28 (UNI) A court here has framed charges against Mr M K Akhauri, the octogenarian maternal grandfather of Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra, in a decade-old case related to attack on a labour union leader of Hindustan Copper Limited in Ghatsila of East Singhbhum district.
The court of first-class judicial magistrate Akhilesh Kumar also booked state Congress president and local MLA Pradeep Balmuchu and four others yesterday along with Dr M K Akhauri, a former doctor of Tata main hospital under sections 147, 323, 341 and 379 of the IPC.
All of them were present in the court. The next date of hearing has been fixed on January 13.
According to the prosecution, Mr Akhauri, Mr Balmuchu and others allegedly attacked one Gulab Das, General Secretary of a local labour union on April 19, 1998, in Ghatshila and ransacked the office.
Dr Akhauri, a former district president of the Congress, was also active in labour union activities.
