KSG urges Centre to provide relief to Karaikal

Puducherry, Nov 28(UNI) The Karaikal Struggle Group(KSG) today urged the Centre to provide adequate relief to Karaikal region, stating that the cyclonic storm 'Nisha' has caused a loss of Rs 500 crore.

In a message to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivaraj Patil among others, KSG Convenor S P Selvashanmugham demanded Rs 300 crore relief from the National Calamity Relief Fund.

He demanded that the Lt Governor should be asked to constitute a Monitoring Committee consisting of the six legislators from Karaikal region to supervise the spending of the relief the Centre may provide.
